Down the TBR Hole #1!

Screen Shot 2018-08-13 at 11.57.37 AM.pngI stumbled across this blog post prompt created by Lost in a Story and thought it was such a fun idea! Thought that it would be a perfect time to do a non-review post as I haven’t been reading as much the past 2 weeks due to having some visitors staying with me!

How it works:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

So my to-read shelf isn’t too long because I actually used to use a different goodreads account and have only been using my current one for around a year, but it will feel good to start cleaning it out a little bit because I often find myself wishing it wasn’t full of books I don’t have an interest in anymore when I am at the bookstore in a spontaneous mood and want to buy a new book, but my to-read shelf is full of books I don’t even remember adding!

The 5 books I will be deciding on

Little & Lion by Brandy Colbert

Little & LionI had seen a lot of people I follow posting about this a few months ago but have yet to pick up a copy because I never actually really knew what it was about oops.

After taking some time to read some more recent reviews of this by reviewers I trust…

Decision: GO

The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by V.E. Schwab

(no cover yet)

This is an upcoming book that is marked as expected release 2020. I, as many others are too, am a fan of Schwabs previous work and am quite excited for this one after seeing her tweets about it! I will pretty much give any of her books a shot!

Decision: Stay

Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy – Anthology

Because You Love to Hate Me: 13 Tales of Villainy

I have come really close to buying a copy of this book so many times but something has always stopped me. I thought this was such an interesting concept and was a really cool opportunity for the booktubers involved. As well, It includes some of my favourite authors!

I hadn’t seen very many positive reviews of this one since it had come out, but I still was hoping to give it a shot at one point.

At this time, I don’t know if I am up for buying a book I probably won’t enjoy.

Decision: GO

Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle #1) by Jay Kristoff

Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1)I have actually started this book but I had to put it down for a bit as I didn’t bring it back to Toronto with me. I recently went back home for a visit and made sure I brought this one back, and I did! The writing seems incredible and I am a huge fan of the Illuminae series, Kristoff’s other novels, so I will definitely be reading this ASAP!

Decision: Stay

Release by Patrick Ness

ReleaseGoing to be honest and say I am pretty sure I added this to my TBR because I really liked the cover, but I still have only read one Patrick Ness book, his upcoming book And The Ocean Was Our Sky.

The reviews for this book on goodreads in general aren’t great, but the ones from people I follow are quite positive. I honestly completely forgot about this one because the cover on goodreads is different than the one I see in stores.

This book is quite short and I am always looking for shorter books to read! This post has reinspired me to give this book a shot! So:

Decision: Stay

There we go! Doing this has made me wanna go through even more of my to-read shelf so I’m thinking of trying to do similar prompts like this one to clear it out!

Let me know if you liked posts like this/If I should do more like it!

have a great day!!
