2017 Recap: The Good, The Not-So-Good, and the Random

Another year another recap!

2017 was the best reading year I’ve had yet and, embarrassingly, the first year I actually read for all 12 months and avoided a 6 month reading slump yikes *backs away in shame*

No, but for real, this year was really great book-wise. Not just reading but being in the book community as a whole. I really made sure to keep active on twitter, goodreads, instagram and my blog and it has been so much fun.

Firstly, 2017 gave me a lot of opportunities book reviewing wise. This was the first year I received ARCS, physical and ebooks, and I am so thankful to have worked with HarperCollins reviewing a few books for them! I am looking forward to 2018 and all the amazing books that are coming out that year (especially Obsidio, I CANNOT wait yall)

p.s: my favourites lists aren’t necessarily 2017 releases, but just things I would have read/watched/listened to in 2017!

My Favourite Books of 2017

They Both Die at the End – Adam Silvera

Warcross – Marie Lu

Six of Crows – Leigh Bardugo

This Darkness Mine – Mindy McGinnis

Dear Martin – Nic Stone

Simon vs. The Homo Sapiens Agenda – Becky Albertalli

Everyone’s a Aliebn When Ur a Aliebn Too – Jomny Sun

Going through the books I read this year to make the list of my favourites made me realize there weren’t many books I read this year that I didn’t like. Should I make a list of the ones I wasn’t so fond of? I think yes, here it is!

My Not-So-Favourites of 2017

Three Dark Crowns and One Dark Throne – Kendare Blake

Flame in the Mist – Renee Ahdieh

Dividing Eden – Joelle Charbonneau

The Tattooed Heart – Michael Grant

Wink Poppy Midnight – April Genevieve Tucholke

This year was also the year I switched from my previous bookstagram account to my current account, wrenandbooks, that I run on my own instead of with a few other people like I was doing on my old account. I’ve loved every minute of having this account and it’s crazy that I am only a few followers away from 1,000!! Thank you so much to everyone who has followed me, liked my photos, and commented over this year. It means a lot to me that people actually want to see my photos and will start up conversations with me about our shared interests in books ❤

A little bonus I wanted to add in here is my favourite movies of 2017 as well as my favourite albums. As you all know, I’m a huge movie fan and I am studying film in school, so it would only make sense to add a list of favs of the year in this recap as well!
