Favourite Book Adaption Soundtracks!

THANKS TO MY FRIEND SHARKIEREADS FOR THIS POST IDEA!

This is THE bookish blog post for me, Im gonna get really into this one I can tell. If you know me, you know I love film score, so much. I am always keeping up to date with my favourite composers and their new works, and also keeping up with recent films and their scores!

Over the past two-ish years i’ve definitely come to make a list of my favourite composers, including: Alexandre Desplat, Jed Kurzel, Carter Burwell, the classic Hans Zimmer, and so many more. Come to think of it, I think these 4 come into the list of my favourite book adaptation soundtracks!

Gonna start off with one of the most famous composers out there, Hans Zimmer. He is know for MANY of his works, his most popular being Pirate of the Caribbean, The Lion King, The Dark Knight and Inception. But recently, he did the music for the adaption of Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince) and it is definitely one of my favourites from him. It’s one of those soundtracks that you notice during the film, and you can’t wait to go and listen to the music.

Next, I have to mention the score for The Imitation Game by Alexandre Desplat. This movie, my favourite of all time, also has my favourite score of all time. I really can’t go on and explain this one because I just have so much love for it, it’s heartbreaking and beautiful and I’m always going back to listen to it again and again. The Imitation Game is based off Alan Turing: The Enigma by Andrew Hodges, a very good biography, I had bought it and read some chunks and have really enjoyed it!

The Carol by Carter Burwell score is another one of my favourites (and i’m still a little salty it didnt win the Oscar this year ahah). A calm, quiet score that is just so relaxing Im listening to it a lot of the times while I sleep. This is another one by Alexandre Desplat. A funny story about this one, I went to go see this movie without knowing Desplat composed it, and as soon as the opening song played I could just tell it was one of his works.

I’ll end with one more: Macbeth score by Jed Kurzel. I honestly cant descibe this one. It is so unique and different from other soundtracks, and the way it works with the movie is amazing. Jed Kurzel is shaping up to be one of my favourites and I can’t wait to see what he does with the upcoming Assassins Creed movie. You really need to go listen to this one ASAP. As well, Macbeth is my favourite shakespeare story, and my second favourite movie. I could go on and on about it.

I could probably make an infinite list of these soundtracks, but i’m gonna stop myself there. Definitely go and check all these film scores out!
